Although only a few months old, the Google+ social network has won a couple of heavy hitting fans in the form of Chris Brogan and Guy Kawasaki.
Speaking in tandem at last week’s BlogWorld 2011 in Los Angeles, both Brogan and Kawasaki enthused about the potential of Google+ for business.
In answering the inevitable comparison between Google+ and Facebook, Kawasaki said Facebook was for friends and family while Google+ was all about new relationships built on shared passions.
Under criticism
Kawasaki, who often comes under criticism for using Twitter as an automated ‘push’ medium (not that he gives a stuff either!), said he used Google+ to engage manually with people.
He said Google+ systematically led to greater engagement.
“With social media there’s no right or wrong, just what works for you.”
He uses Google+ for marketing purposes but you first have to earn the right to promote your brand.

Get in early
Brogan was just as effusive about Google+, advising business to get in early – “there’s magic in them there hills”.
He said Google+ content was indexed by Google straight away, which was a good reason to get involved from a business perspective.
Brogan also likes the fact that with Google+ you can orient and gather people in various ‘circles’ – “segment and target your feeds”, he said.
But I think the last word should go to Guy Kawasaki, who offered up this gem of a quote:
“Google+ is to Facebook what Mac is to Windows.”
As Ari Gold would say: "BOOOOOM!"
