It's actually a sub-title (of my new book). The full title is -
microDOMINATION: How to leverage social media and content marketing to build a mini-business empire around your personal brand.
Global media platform
The central tenet of the book is based around the emergence of what I dub ‘micro mavens’, a new part breed of entrepreneurs who have developed their own global media platform and built their personal brand via social media and content marketing strategies, while at the same time growing significantly-sized businesses literally from the comfort of their own home or for some, on the road somewhere.
We’re talking about a virtual global movement here, a fast-growing trend where people with expertise in a certain area and a passion for sharing their knowledge and connecting with people on and offline, can build a sustainable business without the need to employ permanent staff or rent out physical office premises.
7 powerful characteristics
Parts one and two of microDOMINATION introduces the concept of the micro maven and examines the seven powerful characteristics they share.
Part three of the book outlines the micro maven blueprint and details how someone with a passion for, and expertise in, a particular subject can develop their own platform, build their personal brand, grow their business around their skill, knowledge and personality, and ultimately create a lifestyle tailored to their individual needs.
Part four features five profiles of micro mavens in action, including unconventional entrepreneur, Chris Guillebeau; Melbourne-based home organisation expert, Nicole Avery; podcasting queen, Mignon ‘Grammar Girl’ Fogarty; and New Zealand’s Natalie Sisson, aka ‘The Suitcase Entrepreneur’.
microDOMINATION is best described as a mash-up that cuts a swathe across a number of areas including social media, content marketing, PR and personal branding; it also covers the multitude of ways micro mavens can generate revenue, including speaking, coaching, consulting, membership sites and continuity programs, brand partnerships, book publishing and the creation of information products.
It will appeal to anyone with expertise in and a passion for a particular subject; this includes:
- vocational experts,
- solo professionals,
- bloggers, or
- lifestyle experts.
LAUNCH EVENT - March 27, 2013
microDOMINATION will be launched next week (on Wednesday, March 27) at an event organised in conjunction with Social Media Club Melbourne. It will feature a panel of guest speakers including several micro mavens mentioned in the book:
