PRIA Builds Social Networking & New Media Resources

Yesterday I revisited the Public Relations Institute of Australia's website and was pleasantly surprised to find a growing list of social networking and new media links under its 'Resources' banner.

The links are bunched under headings such as blogs (including blogs by PRIA members), RSS readers, social bookmarking (tagging), web 2.0, search engine marketing, podcasts etc.

The list is long but worth a couple of hours study if you operate in the PR and marketing industry and are keen the fast-track your knowledge of the social media space.

The rate of change that has been occurring in the marketing communications space in recent years will continue unabated in 2008.

Here are some general trends and issues I believe the industry faces in the year ahead.

Suffice to say, there is considerable over-lap between all ‘areas’, which one might argue provides a galvanising effect of sorts. Think of it as marketing’s version of the ‘perfect storm’, where a number of factors combine for a more powerful impact.

Coke Quenches Virtual Thirst

Coca-Cola and its agency Crayon have wrapped up their 'Virtual Thirst' promotional program in Second Life.
