Welcome to the debut entry of 'PR Warrior' - the blog that aims to contribute in some small way to the ongoing conversation involving the various (and inter-related) disciplines of media, PR and marketing communications.
We live in a world where PR, marketing, media, comms et al collide and/or integrate (depending on your view) on a daily basis.
I'm a PR professional and for years have cut across the various boundaries of marketing communications - events, sponsorship, brand experience, guerrilla marketing etc.
In my humble view, dotted lines exist everywhere; I believe PR lies at the heart of brand/corporate/marketing communications - it's not merely some 'add on' that is called upon at the last minute when someone wants some "free publicity", or when a company or brand gets into trouble and is in dire need for someone (read: PR person aka 'sacrificial lamb') to get them out of the shit.
Funny though, in my experience many marketing professionals still seem to want to corral PR into its own little area.
Enough crap from me for my first blog - I've taken up too much of your valuable time as it is...hopefully I can join the global conversation and add something of value in days, months, to come!
Hi Trevor
congrats on five years of life at the frontline. You have more than joined the conversation. You have led it and made a tremendous contribution to the way people think about and understand PR and social media. Here's to five more years!
